“The working peasants are a very large force of the nation, a very sure ally of the working class. In order for the resistance to be victorious and successful in nation building, it must depend on the peasantry.” - Excerpt from President Ho Chi Minh's letter to the National Conference on Agricultural and Mass Mobilization dated February 5, 1953.

Born into a Confucian family of peasant origin, Ho Chi Minh understood the poor slave life of the people, most of which were Vietnamese farmers. Ho Chi Minh also commented: "Peasants are a great force of the revolution", in fact, the peasantry played the role of both participating in production and fighting in the resistance wars against aggression, became the main force in the Viet Minh Front to participate in the struggle against land robbery, for the right of people to live, for democracy, against war, and against tax collection; anti-Japanese demonstrations and armed attacks against Japan and France.

Tens of millions of farmers have contributed human and physical strength to serve the frontline with the spirit of "All for the frontline, all for victory"; "The movement of patriotic emulation, production achieves merit, and honors soldiers". In the temporarily occupied areas, the Farmers' Associations have conducted many forms of struggle such as: "Clinging to the land and villages for production, taking advantage of harvesting and hiding food and foodstuffs in the enemy's rear to serve the the cause of resistance" contributed to the Dien Bien Phu victory in May 1954, ending nearly a century of oppression and invasion by the French.

After the French withdrawal, the US replaced and carried out the war of aggression in South Vietnam. The forces of the peasantry continued to both participate in production and fighting. Responding to President Ho Chi Minh's call, millions of young rural people in the North once again went to the army to join the army "Separate along Truong Son to save the country", tens of millions of farmers with the slogan "Strongly plow, firm hand guns", "There is no shortage of one pound of rice, no shortage of one person in the army", "All for the sake of the South", firmly building the rear, defeating the war that destroyed North Vietnam by US army. In the South of Vietnam, the countryside was always a battleground, an object of struggle between the two sides. The peasant class from the struggle against communism, looting, and appropriation, the peasants rose up in armed insurrection to form the Dong Khoi movement, creating conditions for building forces to defeat the strategies of the United States and the government of the Republic of Vietnam, including the strategy of "Pincers to pacify the countryside", towards the complete liberation of the South and reunification of the country, leading the whole country to socialism.

President Ho Chi Minh also advise the compatriots to join the labor exchange group, join the cooperative, work together, enjoy together, there will be many common benefits; always wanted the grassroots leaders to report the truth, avoid the achievement disease affecting the interests of farmers like the story "Let me go by myself". President Ho Chi Minh went his own way, not following the path outlined by local cadres because "let me go by myself to know the truth, perhaps they have already arranged it there"…, only then will President Ho Chi Minh be in-depth, specifically with sincere, one day and two mists farmers, about the object he wants to learn. In addition to observing and pointing out the shortcomings of cadres who are hard-working to be honest, President Ho Chi Minh is more responsible for his work, for farmers, knows how to do business, to live and how to organize life for the people in the Cooperatives, wherever he go, he advised the farmer to have good seeds, have a lot of water, and a lot of manure for high productivity. Engraved with the advice, Vietnamese farmers emulated to boost agricultural production, performing two important strategic tasks: resistance war and national construction.
