Five members of the Youth Union branch of the War Remnants Museum joined thirty one counterparts from other institutions under Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Culture and Sports in the 2017 Red Holiday Volunteer Campaign, organized at Tân Lập Commune, Tân Biên District, Tây Ninh Province on July 28 and 29.
The youth union members visited the national historical relic of Central Office for South Vietnam, and mounted a touring exhibition entitled “Vietnam and Cambodia’s traditional friendship, complete solidarity, and full cooperation” at Tân Lập Secondary School. Additionally, they organized folk games for and gave gifts to children in Tân Lập Commune, as well as attended the Green Summer Volunteer Campaign closing ceremony of Ho Chi Minh City College of Cultural and Arts. The Youth Union branch of HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also presented some gifts to the locals in Tân Lập Commune on this occasion.
The campaign aimed to demonstrate the volunteering mind of the youths from HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in general and those from the War Remnants Museum in specific with great effort to take care of the people’s material and spiritual life in poor localities. It was also an opportunity to communicate to local people about Cambodia’s land and people, the lifelong solidarity and friendship between the two countries; to foster the patriotism and revolutionary ideal of the youths, and create a positive socio-political environment for them to improve their social skills and personalities; and to strengthen the ties among the members of the War Remnants Museum’s Youth Union branch themselves and the ties between them and those from the other youth union branches.
