On November 2-3, 2018, in commemoration of the 36th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2018), the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Branch of the War Remnants Museum cooperated with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Branches of Ben Tre Province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, Ton Duc Thang Museum and Thạnh Phong Village in holding a program entitled “November - Sharing and Connecting Love”. It provided various activities such as introducing books, holding the local youth unions’ maturity ceremony, giving gifts and scholarships to poor studious students, organizing games, etc.
In the program, the War Remnants Museum introduced a touring exhibition on “Vietnamese children in horrible wars” to 700 teachers and students of Thạnh Phong Secondary School. The exhibition was held to promote the spirit of enthusiasm and volunteer of the Museum’s youth members, contributing to taking care of the spiritual life of the people of the coastal village Thanh Phong, Thanh Phu Commune, Ben Tre Province. In addition, it aimed at educating young generations about the painful losses of Vietnamese children in the Vietnam War so that they could more understand the social responsibility for the country’s future generations.
The members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Branch of the War Remnants Museum and those from the other Youth Union branches visited the monument to Thạnh Phong massacre in Hamlet 5 (now is Thạnh Hòa Hamlet). It is one of the two massacres committed by the US troops. It is also on display at the War Remnants Museum.
