The International Council of Museums (ICOM) established the International Museum Day in 1977 to raise public awareness of the role of museum in the development of society.
On International Museum Day 2021, the ICOM chose the theme called “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine” with the aim of encouraging museums, experts, and partners in the field of museum and cultural heritage to jointly strengthen cooperation, share experiences and new methods to create new cultural heritage values, and propose solutions, new operation and cooperation patterns for cultural institutions and museums, which suit the current socio-economic development conditions.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all aspects of social life at home and abroad. The cultural heritage sector, in general, and museums, in particular, is one of the most afflicted fields. However, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was also a driving force for the innovation of many museums worldwide. Notably, it improved the application of technology and digital documents and the creation of new forms of the introduction of cultural heritage to enhance the experience for the public.
To promptly respond to International Museum Day 2021, the War Remnants Museum organized a photo contest with the topic “Peace in me” aiming at enhancing the brand identity of the War Remnants Museum as a museum for peace in culture and tourism sectors in Vietnam and the world.
We invite you all to participate in the contest by following the detailed competition rules attached.
Best regards.
