From July 18 to August 8, 2024, the War Remnants Museum, in collaboration with Associate Professor Jane Gavan from the University of Sydney, will hold a painting exhibition entitled “Bammunity: Creating Healing – Resilience for the Future.”
The BamunityVietnam exhibition offers a mindful respite to visitors of the often moving galleries of the museum. Inspired by bamboo’s resilience and flexibility, Bamunity is a community that stands together, values the past, and looks forward to the future. Led by Associate Professor Jane Gavan, the project invited the public to submit images for a participatory artwork online, selecting 18 works for the exhibition. Supported by universities and institutions, BamunityVietnam aims to create peaceful spaces and promote cultural connections.
We held workshops with the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, the Sydney Vietnam Institute, and the War Remnants Museum to increase participation in our exhibitions. The workshop raised an understanding of the aesthetic importance of bamboo from the people’s perspective.
