There are many questions why the people of Vietnam - a small, poor and backward country so much more backward than a great power like the US - can resist and win the America army is strong to maintain independence and freedom for the nation. And of course there will be many answers from different points of view. But if we have the opportunity to visit the exhibition space thematic "Requiem" at the War Remnants Museum, we can see the contrast of forces in the operations of the two sides during the Vietnam War, from the image recorded by two reporters Ho Ca and Henri Huet, perhaps we will all find a common answer to that question.

The aggressive war in Vietnam was inherently a senseless war fought by the US - a powerful power with huge advantages in terms of economy, military, technology... and facing that senseless war was the resistance war. the cause of the Vietnamese people, a nation with a strong patriotic tradition and peace-loving spirit.

Regarding weapons: the patriotic Vietnamese people in the resistance war against the US did not have the most advanced weapons even had to use the weapons of the period of the resistance against the French, while the US army was equipped with all kinds of weapons. the most advanced gas at that time.

In the logistics and vehicle warfare: while the US military has a complete and modern system of aircraft, armored vehicles, etc., the Vietnamese army and people only have old trucks and bicycles to climb. Passing through streams and forests, day and night being ravaged by American bombs.

In the armed forces, most of the soldiers of the revolutionary force came from many walks of life, were ordinary peasants, who had to fight and undertake many different jobs at the same time. But they have to face directly with the elite, skilled, well-trained, well-trained armies.

The image of the revolutionary army marching south through the mountains by reporter Ho Ca and the image of the UH1 - H helicopter group as numerous as birds in the sky, each equipped with powerful firepower taken by Henri Huet reflected clear contrast between the two sides. The flying helicopters, parked in rows that overwhelmed the whole frame, were the sketches of the military and economic strength of the world's leading power at the time. Meanwhile, Ho Ca's photo was completely absent of great and modern weapons, only North Vietnamese soldiers marched into the southern battlefield with little equipment. Even weapons that cannot be carried alone such as mortars are disassembled, divided into many people to carry, without any transport or logistics force to support.

However, the hidden point when comparing the two photos mentioned above is the advantage of Vietnam and also the disadvantage of the US. Not as rich and powerful as the US, without the most advanced weapons and standard training regular soldiers like the US, Vietnam can only promote the only strength it has - human resources. The entire Vietnamese nation unites into a bloc, exerts all its strength, will, and wisdom, accepting all sacrifices and hardships for a common goal: independence, unity, and territorial integrity. On the contrary, strong firepower, great potential, and great power sometimes do not give American soldiers the will and true fighting spirit, but instead depend on and decrease in capacity. A large number of American soldiers viewed the war in Vietnam as a quick military walk. As a result, when firepower could not subdue the Vietnamese army and people, their fighting spirit dropped very quickly when they had to confront Vietnam's comprehensive people's and people's war method.

Whether the advantage of one side is the disadvantage of the other side or vice versa, both sides suffer a lot of both material and spiritual losses due to war. But the strength of the aspiration for peace and national reunification of the entire Vietnamese people brought the victory of April 30, 1975. This victory not only refers to the heroic history of the nation, honors the heroes and martyrs who contributed to the victory, but also aims to educate the young generation to be grateful, to cherish and preserve peace. spreading the spirit of friendship with the people of countries around the world, preserving the country's sovereignty; strive to emulate labor and study, contributing to the sustainable development of the country.
